By Julia Tanner There may come a time (though its not necessary) when things may become rough in your swinging relationship. And some of these times are unavoidable, while others can be prevented. The Silent Treatment I think that its in human nature to become quiet when something is bothering us, rather than to talk about things. Most often, you find that you get and give the silent treatment when you are upset about something. I find that being silence is actually just a way for me to gather my feelings before I make any rash decisions or accusations. But what if you are receiving the silent treatment, what then? I suggest that attempt to contact the other couple and set up a time where you can all meet in a non-threatening environment. If you truly can not understand or imagine what is wrong, then you can even meet somewhere of their choosing. Make the silent couple as comfortable as possible. If youre receiving the silence from your partner, you can do the same. Of course, most partners are able to talk things over when they begin to feel upset. But if something has happened, make sure to find time to talk. Usually once you get everyone talking about what has been making them feel bad, you will be able to solve the issues and move on. Jealousy And You Being in a swinging relationship implies that you are working toward fantasies while still keeping your spouse as number one. However, in the beginning especially, you may feel as though your partner is having too much fun. Again, you need to talk about it. Say everything that is one your mind. Sometimes it helps to write it all down and then read it to your partner so that you remember everything. Set up a situation in which they can only listen and not respond until you are completely done. And when you are done, let them speak. You partner will probably reassure you and work with you to find ways to show you that they care for you more than anything. Jealousy that goes unspoken is the harmful kind. In a solid relationship, its just a stepping stone that can be moved beyond. When The Other Couple Changes Their Mind Like in all relationships, there may come a point when things just arent working out for whatever reason. And you may want to move on for the sake of everyone involved. This doesnt have to be a difficult transition when you think of what you have gained from your interaction. Perhaps you have just learned all that you needed to learn. Dont take it personally. Say your goodbyes and wish each other well. Of course, if you feel as though you would like to move to a different couple, then be sure to tell the current couple as soon as possible. You all want to be in the most supportive environment that you can be in. So be sure to openly talk about the possibility. Swinging is just like any relationship and it can have high points and low points. The trick is that you need to treat it like any other relationshipwith respect and genuine concern for each others welfare. Julia has written an amazing swingers minicourse. By George Wood One of the great joys of the Internet has been the spread of dating agencies. It wasnt all that long ago that the physical equivalent, the marriage bureau or introduction agency, was seen as something for losers or the slightly desperate. There has been a long standing tradition within certain cultures of having marriage brokers, but that has never really been mainstream. Most people met friends, lovers and mates either through family connections or sheer geographic proximity (the girl next door, for example). This has now changed with the way in which we no longer live in such tight knit communities. Women have moved into the workforce in great numbers, and are now a majority on most college campuses. This might, you would think, mean that there was in fact less need for dating agencies, but this isnt the case. We no longer work near where we live; our lives are ever more atomized. We therefore need even more the introductions provided and the social connections offered by those modern institutions, the dating agencies. Along with the greater choices we have in jobs, location, and even shopping, we also seem to expect greater choice in our relationships. Why be limited by those you work or study with? What if most are already in relationships? What if your circle of friends doesnt include what you are looking for, for reasons of age, religion, race, or some other factor? Thus, the great freedoms and liberties offered by the dating agencies: we want these extra choices and an old model has been updated to offer them to us. No longer is it the cheesy marriage bureau, but the thousands of contacts available through online dating agencies. Joining a dating agency is a simple step by step process that varies at every agency. You will be walked through everything as slowly or as quickly as you like, taking your time to understand each aspect and feel comfortable. The first dating agency how-to is to find a dating agency that suits you. Many are specific to a certain population. Some are for Christian singles. Others are for a certain ethnic group only, like African American or Jewish. If you do not identify with a particular group or feel bound to date someone from within that same group, you can join up with a dating agency that doesn’t specialize. If you choose one of the many online dating agencies available, you begin by taking a tour of their site. Check out the testimonies of couples who met on that site and later married or had a family. Find out how they introduce you to potential matches, and make sure that the site is completely secure. Find out the rates as well, if there’s a one time membership fee or monthly dues, a certain time commitment, and if they have any guarantees. Once you’ve chosen a site, you have only to fill out their questionnaire. You will be asked questions which reveal your interests and goals, your character and lifestyle habits, your traits and spiritual beliefs, as well as the details of what you are looking for in a potential match. After that, you will either be notified when your profile is matched with someone else’s or if someone expresses interest in meeting you, depending on how the site works. Either way, you will have your pick of potential matches in just a few clicks with an online dating agency. DatingShare.com 100% free dating site and matchmaking service for singles. By Suzanne Daykin Creating or designing a cheap wedding centerpiece is an area where your personality can shine through. Don’t feel you have to have a traditional floral arrangement to decorate your tables, although it is an easy choice if your time is limited. As with all wedding planning the best way to get cheap wedding centerpiece ideas is to collect lots of pictures of what you like the look of, think about the mood that you want to create and your theme - colour or place. Putting some height in your centerpiece will add to the look of the whole room, just remember to think about the people sitting at the table - you don’t want them not to see anyone else on the table as they will end up getting moved - which after all your time and effort you definately don’t want. The key to saving money on your centerpieces is to shop around for the parts that will make the whole. Cheap wedding candle centerpieces are popular, make sure you check with your wedding venue as to whether they allow candles. A great way to have an expensive look without it costing the earth is to place your candles on a mirror tile which you can buy from any DIY store. Different height pillar candles will make it look interesting and you could then scatter petals or confetti. Glass bowls filled with water with floating candles is a simple but effective idea. You can then add extras to the bowl in the form of glass beads to match your colour, or shells or flowers or petals - the list is endless! I know of one couple who used pebbles from the beach where the husband proposed. Remember to avoid scented candles during the wedding breakfast as these could detract from the food and wine. Classic candelabras would add a traditional look and you may find that the venue you are using already has these that you could use at no extra cost, you could then add your own touches with ivy, which symbolises wedded bliss, or coloured ribbon. A sweet centerpiece idea is to use photographs of yourselves either from now or early in your relationship. Each table could be different and you could include pictures of those at the table, this could also help as an ice breaker if you have tables of mixed friends or relatives. Or you could frame a love poem or a special phrase. Hope this helps for inspiration! By Steve Hill Some parents have the shock of hearing their young child start to stutter as a toddler. I am somebody who runs a speech centre in Birmingham, England, I now help people to achieve fluency. I met a lady who was thirty and her little boy aged four had been stuttering for quite a while. She had taken him to speech therapy and was extremely anxious as to why he was stuttering. It had possibly started because the toddlers father had quite a severe stutter, the boy may of picked up the bad habits this way. Many other people contact me asking why their toddler has developed a stutter and asking what forms of stuttering treatments are available. I always suggest that they keep as patient as they can and try to play games, speech games with their child. They can challenge the child to say the word fluently, they show their child how it should be said and then bet them that they can’t do it themselves. When they do manage to say that particular word fluently they then heap lots of praise onto the child, telling them how clever they are and how proud mommy and daddy are of them. I even advise giving them an award like a small chocolate bar. If instead of being patient parents or relatives are aggressive, saying things like:”Get your words boy”"Spit it out!”These types of comments can have a very negative effect and make that child withdraw into their shell. This may to some people seem very obvious to say, however you would not believe the amount of people who have told me this is what they were told as an infant. By Tom Gifford Trying to lose baby fat with exercise does not have to a slow and arduous challenge. In fact, if you follow some general guidelines for effective fat loss training, those extra baby fat pounds can come off rather quickly and easily! In this article we are going to take a look at some general guidelines to follow for safe and effective baby fat loss training. Remember to keep your safety as your number one priority. If you have had a cesarian section, it is recommended that you avoid heavy exercise for at least three months. Here are some of the key points that you should follow: 1. Understand the difference between weight loss and fat loss. A lot of people nowadays follow the trend of want to lose “weight.” It is important you understand that losing weight means that you are losing muscle mass, water weight, and maybe a little bit of fat. The problem is, water weight comes back on very quickly and gaining muscle mass takes time. You can lose a lot of weight quickly, but the last thing you want to do when trying to lose baby fat is to lose 20lbs in 3 weeks and them put it all back on. You want to concentrate on losing fat while increasing muscle mass and raising your metabolism. You see, muscle is what burns body fat. If your body is primed for this to happen, your fat loss efforts will be slower but have a better chance of being permanent. So when trying to lose baby fat, it is important that you concentrate on losing fat and not losing weight. 2. Don’t go on an extreme diet. When someone really wants to lose baby fat, it can be tempting to try and go on an extreme diet. Going on a diet where you are only eating a small amount of calories per day can result in “weight loss” like we talked about before. If your body is used to taking in a lot of calories and then you start to create a super caloric deficit, your metabolism will slow down and you will be more susceptible to put the weight back on quickly. 3. Go find a personal trainer who specializes in this area.It is a great idea for you to find a local personal trainer who is an expert in dealing with people who want to lose baby fat. Remember, your safety should be your number one priority. Having someone guide you through the process step by step is a great idea. Remember to stay enthusiastic, keep learning, and be persistent. You can succeed! Want to Reprint this Article? Reprinting is welcome as long as the content, links, author bio, and resource box are all included and remain completely unchanged. By Tara Deck Acts 2:20-21 The sun will be turned darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. I’ve been thinking a lot about the end of the world lately. Not the normal doomsday variety, I’m not pre-trib, post-trib or anything complicated. I heard someone once say, we’ll all get it straight on the way up and that philosophy works fine with me. I’ve been thinking more about ‘Am I ready’. Kind of like the packing check list before a big trip. I know I’m saved so I can cross that one off the list but I’m starting to think that there is more preparation necessary. I guess it really struck me the other day when my son called me to see the pretty sunset. I was busy, doing something important I’m sure. By the time I made it outside, it was gone. I sat there for a while playing the what-if game. What if the sun didn’t rise tomorrow? What if that was the last sunset I ever had the opportunity to see? Okay, maybe that does seem a bit doomsday but the truth is, that for many people that day it was the last. Of all the promises God has made us, tomorrow isn’t one of them. My husband works with 345 kilovolts of electricity every day. My children are in public schools. I have four close family relatives with heart disease. I have a sister with MS, a sister with depression and a 20-year old sister that drives in Austin. Am I ready spiritually for the sun to set on these relationships? Did I do all I could to show them my love? Christ’s love? The eternal love of God? It’s a knuckle-brained world out there and the truth is, I’m not ready. There is so much more to do, so much more to say than just good-bye. Thankfully, for me the sun did rise the next day. God gave me another opportunity and I will be eternally grateful for that. Maybe I didn’t get as much laundry done, or finish the rest of that all-important to-do list but it just didn’t seem so important anymore. I lost one sunset; I don’t intend to lose another. Galatians 6:10Therefore, as we have opportunity let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. 2005 www.SecretAngels.Org All works submitted under this copyright may be freely distributed to honor and glorify God. By Sharon White So how is research knowledge really acquired in education? Research knowledge is disseminated through three kinds of sources: primary sources (those used by investigators when they share research knowledge with colleagues in their fields); secondary sources (which provide reports of research knowledge for potential users); and tertiary sources (which interpret research knowledge for the general public). Research reports in primary sources are written by investigators, are subject to peer review, provide details about methodology and findings, and are often rife with jargon. Those in secondary sources may be written by content specialists, feature clearer writing, and typically provide only a few details about study methods. Those in tertiary sources are often prepared by advocates, propagandists, columnists, or journalists. Writing in tertiary sources usually provides few or no details about studies and may project a distorted view of research knowledge tailored to make headlines or to support the authors’ ideological viewpoints. In the United States, the most widely read journals were Educational Leadership, Phi Delta Kappan, Education Week, Education Digest, Catholic School Teacher, and Momentum. All six of these journals were secondary sources. In addition, many of the professional books were works that packaged research knowledge for users. Such packaging was also common in the university courses the principals had taken and in the bulk of professional meetings and workshops they had attended. Because the typical principal is exposed to many sources of research knowledge and because most of those sources provide only secondary accounts of knowledge, we might expect him or her to be a generalist when it comes to research knowledge which is to know about many examples of research knowledge but have only superficial understanding of most of these examples. By Yvonne Chase Back in 2004, I met a gentleman who was interested in getting to know me better. After a few discussions of finding out what I needed to know, I decided to participate. Early in this process, he told me that he is not a good chit-chat starter. He could engage in conversation but starting it and keeping it flowing were not his gifts. As time moved on, I found this to be true and it began to be a bother. The long moments of silence on the phone at times drove me batty. I dont know about you but I dont do long moments of silence well at all. One day, I decided to ask him how he felt about our communication. I mentioned to him my concern about the long moments of silence and he began to apologize. Well, I told him that I appreciated his apology but there was really no need for it. I asked the question to get information and now that we have this information, we can work on this area together. He wasnt up for the challenge so he bailed and guess what he never bothered to tell me. I thought something terrible happened to him but after careful investigation he was 100% fine. I shared this with you to make a few key points about relationships: * There are no perfect people to have relationships with but if we are up for the challenge, our areas of weakness can become strong. * Conflict is a friend and an opportunity for growth. * Every irritation is a gift for the relationship. * Relationships are the medicine that we need to grow, heal and reclaim our wholeness. Many of the people that I admire in relationships at time seem incompatible. My chiropractor is very strong, opinionated and in your face while her husband lays in the cut behind the scenes. I remember her husband telling me that he is lucky to be married to a woman like her because he has become and is daily becoming a better man simply by having her in his life for the past 15+ years. My weak areas have definitely become strong because of her. Sometimes we need to bail while other times God will send us exactly what we need in order for us to become the best people that we can be. Dont miss out on your blessing. Step up to the plate and face the challenge! By Kim Beardsmore Your blood cholesterol level is affected not only by what you eat but also by how quickly your body makes LDL-cholesterol and disposes of it. In fact, your body makes all the cholesterol it needs, and it is not necessary to take in any additional cholesterol from the foods you eat. People with heart disease or those who are at high risk for developing it typically have too much LDL-cholesterol in their blood. Many factors help determine whether your LDL-cholesterol level is high or low. The following factors are the most important. Your blood cholesterol level is affected not only by what you eat but also by how quickly your body makes LDL-cholesterol and disposes of it. In fact, your body makes all the cholesterol it needs, and it is not necessary to take in any additional cholesterol from the foods you eat.Patients with heart disease or those who are at high risk for developing it typically have too much LDL-cholesterol in their blood. Many factors help determine whether your LDL-cholesterol level is high or low. The following factors are the most important. Heredity. Your genes influence how high your LDL-cholesterol is by affecting how fast LDL is made and removed from the blood. One specific form of inherited high cholesterol that affects 1 in 500 people is familial hypercholesterolemia, which often leads to early heart disease. But even if you do not have a specific genetic form of high cholesterol, genes play a role in influencing your LDL-cholesterol level. What you eat. Two main nutrients in the foods you eat make your LDL-cholesterol level go up: saturated fat, a type of fat found mostly in foods that come from animals; and cholesterol, which comes only from animal products. Saturated fat raises your LDL-cholesterol level more than anything else in the diet. Eating too much saturated fat and cholesterol is the main reason for high levels of cholesterol and a high rate of heart attacks in the United States. Reducing the amount of saturated fat and cholesterol you eat is a very important step in reducing your blood cholesterol levels. Weight. Excess weight tends to increase your LDL-cholesterol level. If you are overweight and have a high LDL-cholesterol level, losing weight may help you lower it. Weight loss also helps to lower triglycerides and raise HDL. Physical activity/exercise. Regular physical activity may lower LDL-cholesterol and raise HDL-cholesterol levels. Age and sex. Before menopause, women usually have total cholesterol levels that are lower than those of men the same age. As women and men get older, their blood cholesterol levels rise until about 60 to 65 years of age. In women, menopause often causes an increase in their LDL-cholesterol and a decrease in their HDL- cholesterol level, and after the age of 50, women often have higher total cholesterol levels than men of the same age. Alcohol. Alcohol intake increases HDL-cholesterol but does not lower LDL-cholesterol. Doctors don’t know for certain whether alcohol also reduces the risk of heart disease. Drinking too much alcohol can damage the liver and heart muscle, lead to high blood pressure, and raise triglycerides. Because of the risks, alcoholic beverages should not be used as a way to prevent heart disease. Stress. Stress over the long term has been shown in several studies to raise blood cholesterol levels. One way that stress may do this is by affecting your habits. For example, when some people are under stress, they console themselves by eating fatty foods. The saturated fat and cholesterol in these foods contribute to higher levels of blood cholesterol. Kim Beardsmore is a weight loss consultant whose business operates across 60 countries. By Moses Wright There are times when someone with bipolar disorder needs support or advice. They need to have a support system comprising of family, friends, and mental health professionals. But, where should someone with manic depression turn for support when no one else is currently available? The Internet can be an incredible resource for someone with bipolar disorder. Talking to those who are experiencing the same trials as you are can be cathartic. Forums designed for those who have bipolar disorder are a place where people with the disorder can support each other and share their experiences. Its like having an online support group. Forums often include topics related to medications, relationships, stressors, anxiety, depression, mania, and general discussions. Members can post questions to the group, share information, or reply to someone else. Among the forum members are people who know and understand the struggle of living with bipolar disorder. These forums can be a valuable source of support, especially since they are always available. Difficulty coping with the symptoms of bipolar disorder can occur at any time throughout the day or night. Having some form of support that is available at any time is essential. The downside to forums is that there is no guarantee that someone will respond to a particular post. There is a chance that if you post to a forum, the post will remain unread. Even if it is read, there is a chance that no one will reply to it. Some websites offer chat rooms. The clear advantage to chat rooms over forums is that the interaction between the members can be instantaneous. However, forums can offer a higher quality and quantity of responses to a particular question or concern. The websites are a source of valuable information about bipolar disorder. Someone with the disorder should take the time to educate themselves about their condition. If the person with bipolar disorder is on medication, they can read about the medication on the manufacturers website. If you find a website particularly informative, sharing this website with family and friends is helpful. Sometimes family and friends need an outside source of information about bipolar disorder. Though they should understand how bipolar disorder affects their loved one, they should also have access to general information about the disorder. This information can validate the symptoms and difficulties that the affected person is experiencing and increase their understanding of manic depression. There are also websites designed specifically for family and friends of those who have bipolar disorder. On many of these websites, they can interact with other members in forums or chat rooms. People who love someone with bipolar disorder have many challenges. They have to cope with the symptoms of bipolar disorder right alongside their loved one who has the disorder. The Internet provides a wealth of information and support for all those whose lives are touched by bipolar disorder. Moses Wright is the founder of Bipolar Disorder.
