Attendee Walking the Aisles - 6 Trade Show Tips for ‘06

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

By Julia O’Connor Are trade shows in your marketing plans for 2006? There are times when smart exhibitors don’t exhibit but visit shows as attendees to gather new ideas, scope out the competion and look for opportunities. Walk the aisles, see whats new, plan purchases for the coming year? Is this the show when you pull out the order book or checkbook and make a commitment? Trade Show Training, inc. offers these 6 quick tips for those who are not exhibiting but who form the reason for any trade show YOU - the Attendee 1. LOOK FOR THE COMPANY. While sales people are paid to be persuasive, you want to do business with The Company. Review the pre-show information and read the program about exhibitors. Select those that match your requirements in terms of longevity, products, services and guarantees. 2. LOOK AT THE STAFF. Are you asking general questions or do you need an expert? Understand your needs or your companys requirements before you step on the floor. Ask around your firm how can you help while you are at the show before the show. 3. PLAN YOUR ROUTE. Each show has a floor plan. Use it. If you dont have the info you need, contact show management. Map out those exhibitors you want to see. There are two ways to do this by aisle or by product. Review your requirements and hit the main ones first. TSTi suggests you go down every aisle. Because you never know who is a new competitor. 4. BE OPEN TO NEW STUFF. You will never be able to absorb everything at one show. There will always be a new company, product, service, concept something that will be unexpected. Maybe it is in a small, ugly exhibit stuffed in a corner with the hottest new product to be introduced at the show, and you dont know about it. Or a new #1 competitor that cracked your business and knows everything about your hottest product. 5. LEARN TO S-M-I-L-E, then SMILE. Whether you are attendee or exhibitor, there should be politeness on both sides of the aisle. Personality, expertise, social graces, appropriate business manners and tenacity are important for everyone at trade shows. Remember to S-M-I-L-E See-Meet-Introduce-Listen-Engage 6. FOLLOW-UP . If you are interested in an answer, you may need to follow-up yourself with the company. Despite all the fancy lead trackin systems, it is still true that about 80% of leads are not followed-up and it has nothing to do with you personally. Why? Now there are many more opportunities to slice-and-dice your info to oblivion. Not an excuse but todays reality. On the other hand, it pays to be polite. If you gave your information to an exhibitor RFP, RFD, badge swipe, business card, form for a gift, attendee list, etc. then be gracious about follow-up contact from that company. Do you know that you gave permission? As an attendee, you are fair game for any exhibitor. Enjoy the show. Using Wedding Candles to Set the Mood for Your Ceremony and Reception

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

By Sharon Vaz As any bride knows, wedding candles are an integral part of any ceremony and reception. They have so many uses that its important you choose your candles as carefully as you would choose your dress! Candles are used for basic decorating purposes for both the ceremony and reception, but they also have more specific uses. Some couples use them in a unity wedding ceremony, where the bride and the groom hold a tapered candle each, representing their separate lives before they met, as together they light a pillar candle to show their union into a merged life. The three candles can then be placed in a beautiful Unity and taper holder showing that the bride and groom are individuals but that together they are more. If either the bride or groom or both have children, then they can be involved in the wedding at this point by all having their own candles. You can have stunning themes for the Unity candles and ceremony such as Asian Fusion or Celtic Charm candles and accessories. The Asian Fusion candles are a fabulous red with black trimmings while the Celtic Charm theme is in beautiful muted greens. Wedding candles offer a romantic element to the affair, and create a calm and peaceful environment so that you dont have to have bright lights glaring down on you and your guests. A great idea is a personalized wedding candle. For instance, a family circle monogram personalized luxury candle which features a monogram crest with space to enter dates and names around it in a circle. It doesn’t matter if youre having a day or evening wedding, wedding candles add an ambiance no other piece of dcor can. Some couples even use floating wedding candles if theyre getting married beside a pool. Even if youre having an indoor wedding, you can still incorporate the floating wedding candle idea into your ceremony or reception by placing the floating candles in a clear glass vase or container decorated to match your wedding theme. Tea-light candles can be strategically placed around the event to add a subtle charm and even scent, if you opt to invest in aromatic wedding candles. If you are worried about the tea light candles going out or causing a fire then there are battery operated flickering tea lights that can be used. The flickering of the wicks give the appearance of real candles. The holders for your wedding candles are every bit as important as the candles themselves. You can choose plain candle holders that will blend in to the background, or wedding candle holders that match your theme. There are even gorgeous suspended heart unity and taper holders which hold the three candles in the one, three branched silver plated, holder. A candle wedding favor can also be a wonderful gift to give to your guests or bridal party. You can have the candle holder engraved with their name or a special message showing your appreciation to them for their participation in your special day. Wedding candles come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so you can have large candles to decorate your event, and include miniature versions on each table for the guests to enjoy. One bride even had candles set up in martini glasses a fun display that set the mood for the party after the ceremony. Perhaps the most beautiful effect you can see using candles in a wedding is when brides choose to use luminaries. In case you aren’t familiar with them, luminaries are decorated bags that you place along a pathway with a candle inside that makes the decoration shine through. As people walk along the path to the wedding, the effect of dozens of doves and hearts set a beautiful mood and it makes a lasting impression on the guests. You can even have the luminaries sprinkled throughout the area if you have a garden reception. When using luminaries, the bag itself is the dcor, and you can use tea light candles to bring the effect to life. They are safe to use and come with instructions so you wont feel unsure investing in this unique form of wedding dcor. Failing Training Initially in a Franchise Company and the Legal Ramifications

Monday, February 11th, 2008

By Lance Winslow Training is a key consideration in the franchise company and each franchise outlet must operate the same to maintain the consistency of the brand-name. One of the reasons people by franchisees is for a strong brand-name which will drive customers to the franchise outlet. But, occasionally a new franchisee may fail their initial training and they cannot be allowed to start their franchise business until they passed training. If they never passed training they can never be allowed to start, as it would undermine the entire franchise system. So then, at what point do you tell the franchisee in training, that things are not working out and sever the relationship? This issue is important, as it is a competitive market in you need the strongest team to maintain market share. To address this issue it is important to put a stipulation in the franchise agreements prior to the signing and taking of any funds for the franchise. Below is a copy of a clause we put into our franchise agreements for this very purpose; 3.6.3 Failing Training Initially If Franchisee fails the initial training course, the Franchise may be terminated. Franchisee or Franchisees manager may retake the training program up to one additional time providing Franchisee gives Franchisor written notice of their intent to do so no later than one week after Franchisee or Franchisees manager fails training. If Franchisees general manager, whom Franchisee intends to have run Franchisees business, fails the required initial training program, the franchise may be terminated. If Franchisee or Franchisees manager fails the retake of the training course, the franchise will be terminated. $10,000 of the initial franchise fee will be deemed fully earned and non-refundable in consideration of administrative and other expenses incurred by Franchisor in granting the franchise and for our lost or deferred opportunity to sell the franchise to other potential Franchisees. If Franchisee or Franchisees manager fails to satisfactorily complete the initial training course, the remaining $10,000 will be refunded to Franchisee if the full Initial Fee was paid upon signing this Franchise Agreement. ——- ——- ——- This is something that all franchisors should consider as part of their franchise agreements and to make sure it is all legal, they need to contact a competent, knowledgeable and experienced franchise attorney. If you run a franchise company or are a franchise executive perhaps you will think on this in 2006. “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board. By Wendy Wood Throughout the Midwest, when it comes to the most populous state in the area, it is Illinois that holds the title, and serving as the fifth most populous state in the nation. Accommodating a rather large, unique population, the state balances its inhabitants throughout the immense suburbs of Chicago; rural kingdoms; diminutive industrial-minded cities; plentiful mineral and natural settings of the south; and the agricultural havens situated in the central and western regions of Illinois. All of these varied economic endeavors make the state quite the versatile bundle of achievement within the United States. While some of the best museums in the world are thought to reside in Chicago, Illinois, there are many other worthy examples to draw upon besides the John G. Brahmi - Herbal Brain Tonic To Increase Memory

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

By Dr John Anne General Description The traditionally venerated brahmi of Ayurvedic medicine is popular as water hyssop in the west. Other popular names used in different parts of the world are thyme-leafed gratiola and moneywort. It is an indigenous Indian herb which grows in large numbers near the marshy areas. Brahmi is a small creeping herb with white or pinkish flowers. Apart from India, it also grows in China, Nepal, Sri Lanka and even as far west as in the Florida state of US. Brahmi is Bacopa monnieri according to its binomial classification. Its medicinal properties are derived from the two main alkaloids present in it brahmine and herpestine. Apart from these, there are other chemicals in the brahmi, including several acids, saponins and esters, which make it a valuable herb in Ayurvedic medicine. In Ayurvedic parlance, the chemicals present in the herb are also known as brahmi. Properties Brahmi is known in Ayurvedic medicine for the following curative properties:- (i) Brahmi is a bitter and cooling herb with an astringent taste. (ii) Recent studies have shown brahmi improves the intellect. Children in Indian families are consecrated with brahmi since ages to give them an intelligent mind. (iii) Brahmi is both a nerve tonic as well as a cardio tonic. (iv) Brahmi helps in solving urinary problems as it is a diuretic. (v) Brahmi helps in adapting and acclimatizing to a new place. It is an adaptogenic. (vi) Brahmi is a nootropic, i.e. a drug that increases cognitive ability. (vii) Brahmi has antioxidant properties, due to which it protects the nutrients from getting oxidized (and hence destroyed) in the body. (viii) Brahmi is a blood purifying agent. (ix) An ethanolic extract of the herb has given evidence of anti-carcinogenic activity in humans, but this is yet to be concretely studied. Uses Brahmi has been used since ages for the treatment of the following diseases. (i) Dandruff Brahmi oil replenishes the hair roots. If brahmi oil is applied each night before going to bed, it will cure all dandruff problems and also make hair stronger (see in Hair Loss). (ii) Epilepsy The entire brahmi plant is useful in the treatment of epilepsy. The juice of the plant is extracted and used in the preparation of the medicine. In the treatment of epilepsy, brahmi is traditionally used in conjunction with vacha. (iii) Hair Loss Brahmi is renowned in Ayurvedic medicine for the proper growth of hair. Its antioxidant properties allow the proper nourishment to reach the hair roots and thus promote their growth. Brahmi is an essential component of many herbal oils. Using such oils make the head cool, as well as allow the hair to grow luxuriantly and with luster. The oil also prevents split ends and discoloration of the hair. (iv) Insomnia Brahmi is a cooling agent. When applied on the scalp in the form of oil, brahmi relaxes the brain and induces good and restful sleep throughout the night. One Ayurvedic recipe for treating insomnia is as follows: brahmi, vacha and amalaki powders are made in equal proportions. This powdered mixture is to be consumed thrice a day in the dose of one teaspoon. The powder can also be taken dissolved in a cup of water or milk. (v) Mental Problems Perhaps the most major use of brahmi is in the treatment of several mental problems in humans. Taken on a regular basis, brahmi helps to increase the concentration of humans and improves their memory and retention capacity. It is believed that consecrating children with brahmi oils gives makes them into intelligent individuals. Regular use of the brahmi oil is effective in treating mental imbalances, emotional disturbances and also in the prevention and cure of geriatric mental problems such as amnesia and Alzheimers. Brahmi vati, an important Ayurvedic preparation containing brahmi along with jatamansi (muskroot) and serpagandha (rauwolfia) is used as a brain tonic. (vi) Syphilis Brahmi has antibacterial properties. A paste of its leaves is applied on syphilitic sores. This helps the sores to heal quickly. Regular application of the paste of brahmi leaves can treat the syphilis completely. Special Ayurvedic Preparations The following are some Ayurvedic preparations in which brahmi is the main ingredient:- (i) Brahmi ghrita Brahmi is boiled in pure cows ghee along with some other herbs. This preparation is known as brahmi ghrita. Brahmi ghrita is taken orally in one teaspoon amount twice a day on an empty stomach for people who are suffering from amnesia. (ii) Brahmi taila Brahmi oil is used for application on the head. Besides brahmi, this oil can also contain amalaki, camphor, etc. (iii) Brahmi vati Brahmi vati is prepared by mixing the powders of brahmi with jatamansi (muskroot) and serpagandha (rauwolfia). This is used as a brain tonic. This is used in improving mental capacity, becoming more active and reducing anxiety and stress. Precautions Brahmi has some drawbacks, for which its use must be restricted. An excess of brahmi prevents the oxidation of fats in the bloodstream. This makes the fats accumulate in the blood, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disorders. 6 Truths about Ayurveda

Friday, February 8th, 2008

By Lindsay Fox 6 Truths about Ayurveda #1 Ayurvedic medicine is less effective. Truth: It is true that this method of treatment calls for more patience and endurance. The effectiveness can be cited by this example. Whenever there is a tear in a cloth or a hole in a pitcher, we intend to rectify it using the similar material that it is made of. Similarly any fault in human body also calls to be corrected by use of natural resources, as much as possible. #2 Ayurvedic medicines are slow in showing results. Truth: The irony lies with the delay from patients side. Most patients visiting holistic practitioners take their time in trying other systems of medicine so as to derive a faster result. This not only delays the effect of medicine, it also hampers the working of the drug. This is because the patient has either tried much more complicated and powerful combination of drugs, the effect of which needs to be neutralized first. Or in the mean time, his malady has substantially become deep rooted and taken chronic form. It may at times show to work slowly, but as the fable goes slow and steady wins the race. # 3 Ayurvedic medicine has side effects. Truth: Any side effect from medicine, of any therapy, may result from the misuse of drug, either in processing or in prescribing. As far as side effect or after effect is concerned, I believe time tested medicines are safer provided the former two factors are precise. The safety of Ayurvedic medicine and mode of treatment may be advocated in 3 pints. 1. In Ayurveda the very first principle in treating a disease is to do away with the basic cause, and also to see that no new ailment emerges as a consequence. A disease is eradicated from its roots.2. Ayurveda insists that medicine be centered at the patient, than on the disease. The mind, body and soul are considered a tripod and medicine is prescribed for overall health augmentation.3. Since Ayourvda deals with preparations mainly from herbs and natural resources, it is a harmless therapy with least or no side effects. #4 Ayurvedic medicines are for older patients. Truth: There is no known limitation in this form of treatment. It is equally suited to all age groups. Ayurveda could be considered a boon for children when their body system is yet tender and in process of immunity building. The natural products do not interfere with their body resistance and at the same time tends to be more safe and comforting. #5 Ayurvedic medicines are just an alternative. Truth: Ayurvedic system of medicine is incorrectly quoted as an alternate therapy as this has always been the most ancient and complete system of medicine. Its been existing before the birth of other medical therapies. The word Ayurveda is itself derived from Ayush which means life and Veda which means science. There fore, Ayurveda is the complete science of life. It is a treasure to provide every individual a life full of health, vigor and vitality. Lindsay Fox is a veteran of the alternative medicine industry and has a wealth of knowledge and expertise on the subject of genital warts. Tell Other Russian Women Your Decision About The One You’ve Chosen

Friday, February 8th, 2008

By John Kunkle Once you have met the woman of your dreams, you ask her to be your wife. You are excited about your future plans and you cant wait to bring her home. Unfortunately you have some unfinished business to take care of. You remember all the women you were courting? Well, you have to tell them that you made your decision and that they are Runner-up to Miss America. Yes. The absolutely worst part of your trip has arrived. The excitement of meeting the woman of your dreams has been sobered a little by your responsibility to tell the other women of your decision. Unless you are a masochist or have zero empathy, you will feel horrible about this. Do you remember what its like to break up with a girlfriend? Well, think about breaking up with a number of women at the same time. Ouch. You dont need to contact all two hundred women at the social that you went to. Probably most of them have survived the blow of your not calling them right after the social. But if you dated a number of women fairly seriously, you definitely have to deliver the news to them. Its the right thing to do. The best way to deliver your message is in person, but if thats not possible, by telephone. You probably remember receiving a Dear John letter in your life. It didnt feel very good, did it? There is no good way to do this, but there are plenty of bad ways. One is to take the cowards way out and just dont call or tell them. The other is a general announcement issued like a proclamation. Worse than a Dear John letter is one addressed To Whom It May Concern. How would you feel if you got the bad news delivered by post card that had the news written on it so that everyone could read it. How would you feel if you received a photocopy of a typed pro forma Dear John letter with your name written in next to the salutation, Dear __________. What a personal touch! Yes, I have heard of cretins doing this and worse. Another less than satisfactory method is to tell the marriage agency personnel to deliver the message for you. This is almost as bad as To Whom It May Concern. Sometimes it is difficult to handle these situations properly. For one, you usually have limited time while traveling and dont have the time to handle all the situations in the ideal manner you would like. But make the effort to deliver the message the best way you can, as painful as it may be. Its part of your responsibility in this process. You dont get to dance all night without paying the fiddler. The bottom line is do unto others as you would have others do unto you. The Golden Rule. John has been to Russia and CIS countries many times. He has been successfully married to his Belarussian wife for over five years. He will show you how to meet her, how to bring her home, and how to successfully survive marriage to a Russian woman. He will show you how too.http://www.russian-luv.com/badnews.html Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Kunkle http://EzineArticles.com/?Tell-Other-Russian-Women-Your-Decision-About-The-One-Youve-Chosen&id=334925 phentermine diet pills without a prescription phentermine no doctor prescription where can i buy phentermine without a prescription phentermine out prescription

Pressing Fresh Flowers

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

By Steve Valentino Floral craft and floral dcor are avocations which if passionately followed can become and addiction of a lifetime. Some floral crafts are pressing fresh flowers, waxing fresh flowers and drying fresh flowers. The easy thing about any floral art is just to have the knowledge to begin with and since none of these crafts are time consuming, you can easily squeeze this into your busy schedules - at work and even at home. We will concentrate on pressing fresh flowers. This floral craft is the easiest of all. You have to carefully select the fresh flower you want to press. It’s important that the flower is not wilting. Bring the flower home and quickly put them inside your refrigerator or an ice chest to keep them fresh while you organize your pressing material. For pressing you would require a newspaper sheet, a thick heavy book - preferably a dictionary or a telephone directory / yellow page etc., and some heavy objects weighing about 20 lbs. or above. This done, take out the flowers from the refrigerator and put them in the newspaper fold in such a manner that all the petals spread out without folding. Next put the upper fold of the newspaper over the flower and open the dictionary or telephone directory from the middle and place the newspaper inside. Close the dictionary/directory and put the heavy weights over the dictionary. The pressing process takes about 3 days, so make sure you do it at a place which will remain untouched for three days. Once the flower is dry and pressed, you can do many a things with them, make greeting cards, use them in an arrangement, art work for wall or your dining table or even that tiny corner for your office place or even designing a perfect gift for someone you love.
